When your parent or guardian orders glasses for you from Reframify Kids, we need to collect some information about you to make sure your glasses are safe and correct. This page explains what information we collect and why.
📝 What Information Do We Collect?
About You:
- Your date of birth (so we know your age)
- Your parent or guardian's contact details
- Where to deliver your glasses
About Your Eyes:
- Your prescription (the numbers that show what lenses you need)
- The distance between your pupils (called PD - we need this to make your glasses fit properly)
- What frames and lenses you chose
🤔 Why Do We Need This?
To Make Your Glasses!
We can't make your glasses without knowing your prescription and measurements. It's like a recipe - we need all the ingredients to make something that works perfectly for you.
Other Important Reasons:
- Safety Check: A qualified eye expert (called a Dispensing Optician) checks every order for children to make sure the glasses will be safe and work properly. This is the law in the UK!
- Delivery: So we know where to send your glasses
- Keeping Records: We have to keep some information for several years in case there are any problems with your glasses
👥 Who Sees Your Information?
We only share your information with people who need it to make and deliver your glasses:
- The Dispensing Optician - checks your prescription is right for you
- The Lab - makes your glasses (they get your prescription and measurements)
- The Delivery Company - brings your glasses to your home (they only get your name and address, not your eye information)
🔒 We Never:
- Sell your information to other companies
- Share your eye information with people who don't need it
- Send you marketing emails (unless your parent says it's okay)
⏰ How Long Do We Keep It?

Why so long? The law says we have to keep health records for children for a long time, in case anything goes wrong with your glasses and we need to check what we did.
✋ Your Rights
You and your parent/guardian can:
- See your information - ask us to show you everything we have about you
- Fix mistakes - if something is wrong, we'll correct it
- Ask questions - if you don't understand something, just ask!
🎂 When You Get Older
If you're old enough to understand what your data is and what you're asking for, you can make requests about it yourself. Your parent or guardian can help you too.
🔐 How Do We Keep It Safe?
- We use special computer security (like a really strong lock on a door)
- Only people who need to see your information can access it
- We delete information when we don't need it anymore
- Everyone who works with us is trained to keep information private
